Blakes Wood

Bourne Mill

National Trust property, the mill was originally built as a fishing lodge in 1591 and features stepped “Dutch” gables. There is a millpond and some of the machinery, including the waterwheel which is intact and working.

Copt Hall Marshes

Situated on the remote and attractive Blackwater Estuary, they are part of the Blackwater site of Special Scientific Interest. The salt marshes are rich in overwintering wildfowl and wading birds.

Coronation Park

Coronation Park is home to Springfield Cricket Club and Chelmsford Rugby Club. This is a popular park specialising in sporting activities. Younger visitors are catered for by a new innovative play area, for children up to 12 years old.

Cressing Temple Barns

Historically the most important – and dimensionally the largest – of the Knights Templar’s Essex landholdings, Cressing Temple is a fascinating medieval moated farmstead boasting the oldest recorded timber-framed barn in the world.

Cudmore Grove Country Park

Cudmore Grove offers visitors a trip to the seaside with a difference at the eastern tip of Mersea Island. The park includes a sandy beach and open grassland, perfect for picnics and great views.

Danbury Common and Lingwood

Dedham Rowing Boats

For many years dating back to the nineteen hundreds, Dedham has been known as the place to hire a Rowing Boat. We have carried on that tradition and have 26 Clinker built Rowing Boats all for hire from 30 minutes to an hour or more for a leisurely row along the river Stour.

Mistley Towers

This is a rare example of Robert Adam’s ecclesiastical work. Originally it was a parish church, St. Mary the Virgin, that had been built in the 18th century in the Georgian style. Sadly the two towers are now all that remain.

St Botolph’s Priory, Colchester
